Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center requested the design and construction phase services for the upgrade of an existing 1.5T Magnet to a new 3T magnet in their existing MRI space. The existing magnet was not self shielded and so large amounts of steel had to be removed for the de-installation of the existing magnet and the installation of the new magnet. Additionally, this was the only magnet on campus so a temporaray MRI machine was brought in to serve the patients. The temporaray magnet was located away from the radiology department and the existing temporary trailer pad had to be upgraded to allow for a temporaray trailer. The finishes in both the scanner room and the control room were upgraded to match the finishes in the hospital including casework, doors, and flooring. The radioligy department has a large room which is used for UPS machines and battery racks. This room has an access floor. The project included a new suppport system for the new UPS machine and battery cabinets whihc servce the upgraded magnet
